Delhi Court slaps fine on TOI for not appearing in defamation case of AMU

New Delhi: A Delhi court has imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on respondent (The Times of India) in a defamation case for not appearing in the hearing held on Thursday. The case was filed by Dr. Farrukh Khan, a law graduate of Aligarh Muslim University, in 2007 against the Times of India for carrying a ‘malicious’ story which depicted the world-famed institution in poor light. The defamation case was listed in the court of Civil Judge Anubhav Jain at Tees Hazari District court today. However, the respondent lawyer did not appear for the cross-examination of the Plaintiff Dr. Farrukh Khan twice.
